There was one lady who lived in Clapton, halfway between Portishead and Clapton and she used to come in on a bus, leave her bike outside and then she would catch a bus into Bristol, Temple Meads and she’s go by train to Salisbury market, every week she did that. Then there was another one, she never used to ride her bike she used to push it, she was a cleaner and she worked along the village there. She used to have to have the tyres changed because she wore them out on one side.
