Even now, when I drive into it (the Village Quarter)…compared to where I grew up (Nore Road) and where I live now (Roath Road)…..narrow, taller, smaller…different even to the time when my parents were talking about Brampton Way development…it feels different, but not in a bad way…it’s just much busier. I can remember Old Mill Road…being this place that felt really far away because it was…not in the middle of nowhere….not really loads around it……and doing a computer course (in an old building somewhere on the marina)… felt desolate driving there….. in the middle of nowhere….when I go there now it feels joined up and part of the town…and the development has joined Portishead to not feel so far apart.
